After my Mom landed, she picked me up from school in a cab and we made our way over to our hotel in Manhattan. Neither of us had really eaten so we stopped at the Food Emporium and grabbed a light lunch.
Roasted veggies, our favorite Sonny & Joe’s buffalo hummus, carrot sticks, and pita chips.
We chatted and hung out in our hotel room until we decided to go on a dinner date at Cafe Blossom! By the way, my Mom is my favorite person to go out to dinner with.
We started with the kabocha squash soup which was delicious but not particularly photogenic.
My Mom ordered the tofu BLT for her entree with a side of incredible sweet potato fries.
I ordered the seitan marsala with sauteed mushrooms, kale, caramelized onions, and mashed potatoes.
My Mom’s sandwich was good, but the seitan was my favorite.
For dessert we split three scoops of Lula’s ice cream. The flavors, in order of preference, were coffee, death by chocolate, and vanilla malt. The coffee and death by chocolate flavors were incredible but the vanilla malt was a little icy rather than creamy and the taste wasn’t really “wow” worthy.
In addition to the food, we loved the atmosphere and our waiter was fabulous! Overall, this is the best meal I’ve eaten in a long time.
